One owner and originally purchased on Gran Canaria where it has spent its entire life. The LJ77 LX has its factory paint and decals; the motor, interior and driveline are original. It has been well maintained by professional mechanics. Never in an accident nor any noticeable damage to the body or chassis.
The Land Cruiser only has 269,274 kms since new. Recent service includes new timing belt, injection pump service, new brake pads, coolant hoses, steering knuckle and tie rods. The vehicle has been used as a daily driver. Overall, the vehicle is clean and in good working order.
MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION
2LT 2.5L inline 4 cylinder turbo diesel motor mated to
a R150F 5 speed manual transmission. Electronic locking wheels hubs with 4WD and two speed transfer case. Solid axles in front and rear with coil suspension.
The 12 volt electrics. Original engine is responsive and efficient. The clutch is smooth and all gears shift smoothly. The brakes function properly. The vehicle handles well but needs re-alignment. The suspension is in good condition. The factory engine matting is in ok condition with minor wear.
The original interior is intact but needs a deep cleaning.
The interior color is light grey with grey cloth seats with “TURBO” embroidery. Seats for seven with fold down rear 50/50 bench seats and two rear jump seats.
The dash is complete with all the buttons and controls working properly and shows minimal wear. Original cassette-radio, and tilting steering wheel. The steering wheel is original and in ok condition
. . The headliner is intact and without tears.
The door cards are clean with minor wear. Original carpet is mostly clean with minor wear. The wear on the pedals is consistent with its use, minor. The shifter knob has minor wear.
The front seats are comfortable, the driver seat is torn. The back and rear seats are clean. All electronics work properly, except the dome lights. All four electronic windows work properly. Flip-out rear windows in good condition, function and lock properly.
All doors lock properly.
Heater is hot. Air conditioning is cold. Non smoking.
The factory paint is in poor condition with several areas of oxidation (roof, passenger front windshield, underbody) and sun damage to the factory clear coat. The decals are original with several scratches. The
fiberglass wheel fenders have minor damage and scratches.
Dent in rear driver side corner.
The driver door handle is cumbersome to open but works. The rear passenger side door is difficult to open. Drilled holes in rear doors. Foot boards for easy access.
The body lines are straight and all doors shut properly. Keys and locks function correctly. Wipers and water sprayer function properly.
The chassis is clean and does not show signs of damage or abuse; there is minor rust in areas. Original 6 lug alloy wheels. Two new Goodyear Wrangler tires in rear, and two cheaper tires with less than 50% tread in front, spare is worn. Overall, in ok condition with normal wear for its use. Garage kept.
Road test in town and on the highway with four adults. The LJ77 has good acceleration and shifts smoothly through each gear. The steering pulls to the left, and according to the owner , the LJ77 lacks a realignment service following the front end service. Despite the steering issue, the vehicle is graceful and provides a cruising speed of 120 kph on flat highway. The suspension is comfortable. There is a slight noise coming from the front wheels when rotating at low speed.
The ride as a passenger in the back seats is comfortable. There is ample legroom and shoulder space. The sight lines for the driver are clean. The driver position is comfortable with ample space.
The electronic 4WD functions properly and the transfer case works correctly. The motor, transmission and suspension performs well and does not exhibit bad vibrations or noise. The interior plastic does have vibration at certain low RPM speeds.
Drives well, handles ok, comfortable suspension and good brakes. Overall, a capable modern SUV with the simplicity of pre-computerized engineering. A unique vehicle that is a pleasure to drive.
