VEHICLE History

Toyota 4Runner LN130 in Dark Blue Metallic paint with two owners from new.  Originally purchased at Blandy Toyota on Tenerife.  Always kept in a garage.  All original paint, motor and interior.  It has been well maintained by professional mechanics.  Overall the vehicle is very clean.  Never in an accident nor any noticeable damage to the body or chassis.  The body is clean without rust although the factory paint shows defects.
The first 20 years of the vehicle life it was owned by a doctor who used it to commute 10 kms to work everyday.  In the last five years it has been used as a daily driver and trail rig on the weekends.  The interior has aged well but the body and paint shows its use.  Only 97,888 kms with documentation.

MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION

“2LT” 2.4L turbo diesel mated to the “R150” five speed manual transmission with electronic 4WD and 2 speed transfer case.  The engine bay of the LN130 is clean with factory matting in ok condition.  The engine is very responsive and powerful with the turbo working properly.  All gears shift smoothly.  The clutch and brakes function properly.  The vehicle handles well and the suspension is in good condition.

INTERIOR

Completely intact and clean in fine condition.  The interior color is dark grey with light grey seats.  Seats for five with 50/50 rear bench seats, power windows, power door locks, AIR CONDITIONING, CD radio, tilting steering wheel, and map lights.  The dash is complete with all the buttons and controls working properly and without damage or wear.  The headliner is intact and clean but has been poorly re-installed causing a fold in excess fabric.  Clean carpets.  The clutch pedal indicates light use and the other pedals are like new, the shifter is also lightly used.  No damage to any seats, driver seat is comfortable.  Non smoking.  All electronics work properly.    AC is cold.  Heater is hot.  The steering wheel has been replaced with Sparco leather wrapped wheel, the original is available with the sale.

EXTERIOR

Factory Dark Blue Metallic paint shows signs of wear.  The perimeter of the moonroof has been poorly repaired after removal of a sealant.  There are several scratches and small chips in the paint.  Some rust is present near the front corner of the hood.  The four corners of the chrome bumpers have small dents and abrasions.  The moon roof is functioning properly and does not leak – it was repaired the previous month.  Five doors with split back lift-gate.  Running boards for entry access.  Wipers and water sprayer function properly.  Tires in okay condition with 50% use.  Overall well kept LN130.

TEST DRIVE

Highway and off road test.  The LN130 performed well on the road, accelerating up a steep grade and smoothly navigating through traffic.  Cruises at 90-100 kph, and can reach speeds in excess of 130 kph.
The highlight of the test was going to a mountain all-terrain course.  The Toyota performed well in both speeds of the transfer case, as well as, up and down a medium grade track.  The turbo greatly improves its capability on dirt.  The motor, transmission and suspension performed well and did not exhibit bad vibrations or noise.  Drives well, handles fine, comfortable suspension, shifted smoothly through all gears.  Overall a pleasure to drive on and off road.

THE POSITIVES

It is a complete vehicle and not missing any pieces – original tool set and owners manuals.
The vehicle is original in paint, motor and interior.
It is very clean inside and out.
Low KMS with only 97,888 kms from new.
Garage kept its entire life.
Luxury options such as Air Conditioning.
The motor is strong and sounds good.
The drive is comfortable and correct.

THE NEGATIVES

The original paint shows scratches, chips, stains, and areas with minor oxidation.
The axles and some underbody components are aggressively rusty for its use and suggesting heavy use in mud.
The tires are inexpensive with 30-50% tread remaining.  The spare is worn flat.
The roof liner is poorly installed.
The air conditioning works but is not very cold.

ADDITIONAL SPECIFICS

No rust on any doors and no dents.
It looks like this vehicle has been used on off road trails but not abused – scratches but no dents; stored dirty.
The vehicle was first registered on April 1992.

CONCLUSIONS

The upholstery needs cleaning on the roof liner and rear bed – normal for age and use.
The small amount of rust needs attention.
It needs new tires.
The underbody needs cleaning and treating for oxidation.
—->With a minimal investment this 4 Runner LN130  can be like new from the factory and dramatically increase its value.
———->It would be very difficult to find one with under 100,000 kms and ready for daily use.
This Toyota 4 Runner LN130, like all Canary Island Rover vehicles, features the steering wheel on the left side like in North America and Mainland Europe.
